THE WORK
As part of the events to celebrate 200 years since the beginning of the Greek Revolution, the Museum of Modern Greek Culture, inaugurating the courtyard area of its new roof, invites you to watch shadow theater performances with heroic-historical content.
Hatziavatis will celebrate the glorious feats of the fighters of '21 and the heroes of the Revolution will parade in the berde to the sounds of live music.
Three renowned karagiozo players, Angelos Alibertis, Thomas Agrafiotis and Kontantinos Koutsoumplis play the shows:
- "The hero of the Katsantoni Papers" on 6.2021 (Angelos Alibertis)
- "Patriarch Gregory V" on 3.7.2021 (Thomas Agrafiotis)
- "Athanassios Diakos" on 10.7.2021 (Kontantinos Koutsoumplis)
Performances are accompanied by live music and include apotheosis scenes, where puppeteers took on the roles of the heroic figures in front of the stage, elements associated with the flourishing period of shadow theater and not often found in today's performance.
